  • The purpose of this trainer is to provide the basic knowledge of the Phase Shift Keying (PSK).
  • PSK describes the modulation technique that alters the phase of the carrier.  Mathematically:

Introduction about the Trainer:

The PSK trainer consists of the following features:-
Data Input, Carrier generator, Phase shift keying Modulator & PSK Demodulator.

Data Input:

Clock Generator:

  • It is provided for Data input of the PSK Modulator. The generated square wave frequency varies from 60Hz to 1 KHz (approx.).

Carrer Generator:

  • This generator is provided for carrier input of the PSK Modulator. It generates sine wave. Its frequency varies from 2 KHz to 200 KHz (approx).
    • X1 - 2 KHz to 20 KHz (approx).                              
    • X10 - 20 KHz to 200 KHz. (approx)
  • Amplitude : 0-10V (p-p)

PSK Modulator:

  • In this trainer we have used 1496 IC as PSK Modulator. Data Input can be varied using the 1K potentiometer. The output amplitude can be varied using the 50K potentiometer.

PSK De-Modulator:

  • PSK Demodulator consists of 565 Phase locked loop IC and an operational amplifier to demodulate the PSK signal by adjusting the PLL to the center of the PSK signal.

This trainer is a glass-epoxy printed circuit board and all the symbols screen-printed on the front panel so that it enables the student to conduct the experiments easily.
